Test Specialist

Summary

Hi there! This section shares a few personal insights that might not come up in an interview but could help you determine if Im a great fit for your team.

I'm passionate about helping others, and I believe my approach is effective because I always view challenges from a newcomers perspective. Having faced complex processes without proper guidance myself, I understand the importance of clear, structured support. As a senior and later a test lead, I took the initiative by creating comprehensive self-starter documents for new team members. These resources were designed to simplify the onboarding process, much like having a detailed map when navigating an unfamiliar city. This approach ensured that new hires could get up to speed quickly and confidently.

I believe experience doesnt make anyone immune to mistakes, so Im all about open dialogue and learning through teamwork. Im friendly and open-minded, eager to learn new things, and unafraid to ask for help when needed. While I can work independently, I thrive in a collaborative setting where bouncing ideas off each other is the norm.

I naturally look for ways to optimize everything I do, and this mindset carries over into a working environment. My preferred example is when Ive implemented various Excel/VBA optimizations that turned tedious manual tasks into one-click solutions, significantly reducing the time required for senior and lead duties. Programming in VBA was a time I remember incredibly fondly as something I would love to come back to one day in some capacity (other languages and contexts) as I love tinkering in code. I used to work on my own video game where I've created a complex (in that engine - GameMaker) menu system from scratch, which I then turned into tools to create content from inside the game, and later I've created automated tests for this system. I'm also slowly dipping my toes into Playwright.

I'm a stepfather of my girlfriend's two young sons, who are a constant source of patience tests that no client in any country could ever match. Communicating with a three-year-old requires a deliberate effort to bypass obvious mental shortcuts and instead provide clear, all-encompassing explanations - otherwise, the kid. Just. Won't. Get it.

In my free time, Im working on a custom ruleset for Dark Souls The Board Game, a complete overhaul that some might find tedious, but I thrive on it. I love analyzing the game (by creating a database in Sheets), watching how my friends play it, considering each situations impact on the overall experience, and making adjustments as needed. Its basically what I do as a tester, but here, its my hobby. Im also involved in creating, testing, and advising on community content, as well as maintaining the unofficial FAQ for the game. When Im not doing that, Im likely bouldering to combat my fear of heights. Or at least thats what Ive been telling myself for the last 1.5 years.

Expectations

As generic as it may sound, I'm looking for a place to potentially learn new skills (automation/magagement), have a healthy relationship with a job and my peers, being treated well and giving the same in return.
