Staff Software Engineer/ Principal Software Engineer
Summary
I am a seasoned software engineer with over 9 years of experience in designing, developing, and leading the delivery of highly scalable and available cloud-native applications. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with industry leaders such as Twilio, Capital One, and Walmart Labs, where I have consistently demonstrated my ability to drive innovation and deliver high-quality solutions.
At Twilio, I currently lead a team responsible for the Event Triggered Campaigns product on Segment's Customer Data Platform. From inception to private beta, I have been instrumental in architecting and building this feature-rich platform, which is now being used by 5 enterprise businesses. Additionally, I have streamlined DevOps and continuous delivery practices, enabling automated deployments and increasing deployment speed and frequency across the team's projects.
During my tenure at Capital One, I played a pivotal role in designing and building several highly available and scalable near real-time and batch data pipelines between Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Capital One's internal systems. These pipelines enabled data analysis on millions of records related to marketing communications sent to customers daily. I also designed and implemented several Kafka projects to aggregate, enrich, and deliver data streams to Salesforce Marketing Cloud, enabling the delivery of over 3 million welcome emails to new customers.
At Walmart Labs, I contributed to the creation of the company's inventory management system, a highly available and real-time cloud-native supply chain solution for stores. I developed numerous Java microservices and streaming data applications, focusing on high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
Throughout my career, I have consistently demonstrated a passion for mentoring and training junior engineers, contributing to the growth and development of the teams I have worked with. I have also presented at Lunch and Learn talks, influencing best practices across departments.
With a strong foundation in programming languages such as Java, Python, and JavaScript, as well as expertise in cloud technologies like AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes, I am well-equipped to tackle complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions. My certifications, including the Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner, further validate my commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Expectations
As an experienced software engineer with a passion for innovation and a commitment to excellence, I have high expectations for my new role. While competitive pay and benefits are certainly important, I place a strong emphasis on the company's culture, values, and approach to work-life balance.
One of my top priorities is to work for an organization that truly embraces remote work and fosters a collaborative, inclusive environment for its distributed workforce. I thrive in settings where I can collaborate with smart, driven engineers who share my enthusiasm for cutting-edge technologies and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. A company that values continuous learning, encourages knowledge sharing, and provides opportunities for professional growth is essential for me to feel engaged and motivated.
Furthermore, I expect my new employer to prioritize work-life balance and respect the boundaries between work and personal time. While I am dedicated to delivering high-quality work and meeting deadlines, I also believe in maintaining a healthy balance between my professional and personal life. A company that recognizes the importance of this balance and supports its employees in achieving it will foster a more productive, engaged, and satisfied workforce.
In addition to a positive work culture, I anticipate working on challenging and impactful projects that leverage the latest technologies and methodologies. I am excited by the prospect of contributing to innovative solutions that drive real value for the business and its customers. A company that invests in its technology stack, encourages experimentation, and stays ahead of industry trends will provide an environment where I can continue to grow and excel.
Finally, I expect my new employer to value transparency, open communication, and a collaborative approach to decision-making. An organization that fosters an environment where ideas are freely shared, feedback is welcomed, and diverse perspectives are respected will not only lead to better solutions but also cultivate a sense of ownership and pride in the work we do.
In summary, while competitive compensation is important, my expectations for my new role extend beyond financial considerations. I seek an organization that prioritizes work-life balance, embraces remote work, values continuous learning and innovation, and fosters a culture of collaboration, transparency, and respect. By aligning with a company that shares these values, I am confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and find fulfillment in my work.
