Summary

Worked with SRE team to improve infrastructure and establish extensive monitoring processes; improved Looker report from minutes to seconds.

Introduced technical design review process for engineers to share their plans before they work on code; incorporated TDD to capture test scenarios and edge cases before coding to ensure code quality and significantly reduce production incidents.

Created detailed SLA/SLO dashboard and service health monitors to proactively capture issues. Increased service stabilizability; reduced production incident frequency from many per week to a few per quarter.

Designed event-driven architecture for all engineering teams to use and more efficiently consume data.

Reduced unnecessary services and cloud infrastructures; lowered AWS costs from thousands to hundreds of dollars per month.

· Lead multiple teams of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems.
· Maintain rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.
· Contribute to and/or execute on the organizations vision and standards around security, quality, observability and clean code
· Support legacy and modern services and applications in the public cloud and deploy them through CI/CD practices.
· Create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, inclusivity, innovation, learning, respect and transparency while holding a high bar for craftsmanship.
· Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to ensure we're building great products.
· Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation through "rolling-up sleeves" and "getting hands dirty".
· Collaborate with other engineering teams to identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity.
· Share knowledge with team members via a formal mentoring relationship, reviewing code, reviewing design docs, giving technical talks and JIT feedback.
· Work closely with the People Team to hire talented and high potential engineers from diverse backgrounds.
