Software Engineer

Summary

After receiving a Bachelors of Science in Theatre (I made choices), I found myself searching for a role that would better suit my long term career goals. I was hired by an outsource IT firm on their Help Desk company that serviced law firms, and worked my way up to Team Lead in my nearly 3 year tenure there. As I wanted to do something a little closer to a technology job, I was hired as a Production Engineer at a Chicago based Fintech called Avant, which was a banking platform that aided bigger banks with their online loan products. I learned Ruby from scratch, along with various other software like Sumo Logic, Datadog, and Sentry. Due to a reduction in force, my role was no longer needed. However, I did not feel I had a full understanding of software development from the ground up, so I recently attended a coding bootcamp called Actualize and gained a more wholistic understanding of Fullstack, utilizing Ruby/Rails backend and JavaScript/React frontend development.

Expectations

I'm looking for a software engineer role at a company with a fully remote work model, or hybrid work model based in Chicago. I would love to work within my current skill set, but I am more than happy to learn other languages or frameworks as necessary. I want coworkers that are friendly and approachable, but able to get down to business when called for.
