Software Engineer
Summary
I am a software engineer and 9yr US Navy veteran. I completed an 18-week software engineering immersive program with Galvanize Inc. (parent company of Hack Reactor), gaining expertise in JavaScript, React, and Node.js and over 1500 hours of full-stack development experience. I have continued on to learn React Native and C++ in my free time. As a nuclear reactor operator in the Navy, I operated a nuclear reactor safely and efficiently onboard a submarine by raising and lowering control rods, analyzing temperature readings, and monitoring turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment. I handled reactor startups, routine procedures, and shutdown operations by communicating and coordinating with engine room dispatchers. I love learning and challenging myself, and I look forward to future opportunities in the software engineering field.
