Software Engineer
Summary
I have been in software development for four years. My most recent position is that of an Angular developer, with some C#/.Net mixed in. I interviewed and took a tech assessment for my current position having only touched Angular and Typescript once before the interview(my previous experience was with React w/Javascript for front end development). I've been an asset to my team by creating new features, handling hot fixes, offering pull request commentary to ensure coding standards are adhered to, started an onboarding documentation initiative, and have participated in initial interviews of dozens of developers. The only two that I recommended were the ones hired, and they are crushing it.
I try to bring everything into a positive light by using even the most unpleasant experiences as a learning opportunity. The reason I have taken to spearheading the onboarding initiative, was because I saw this as a huge gap when I was hired and would like to help new developers get up to speed and contributing at a faster rate. One of my philosophies is that we are all users first, and having a more in-depth knowledge of our platform and the problems it solves will help us make a better product, with less misses in planning and execution, and inevitably slowing/reversing churn of customers and grow sales.
The attitude taken by a lot of my coworkers and upper echelon has been cavalier and others seem content with going through the motions, regardless of whether processes get better or not. This honestly eats at my soul, and I am looking for a change.
Expectations
I want a new position that I can call home for years to come. I want a place that will take me through our product, answer my questions, and always look to make things better. This doesn't mean that we have to re-invent the wheel. Simply use what works and get rid of what doesn't. Not having excessive morning meetings would also be a plus. I love collaborating with others and expanding my skill set. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't just pass the buck. If something is perceived as a FE task/bug, but I find out that it's BE, I'll do what I can to go ahead and resolve this issue.
