Senior Design Manager
As a registered Architect and Architecture lead at the Google R+D Labs for the Built Environment, I am intimately acquainted with the complexity and impact of the built world. With the constantly evolving nature of how we live, work and travel, the workplace needs to stay ahead of these needs to allow its users to be inspired to do their best work. From TI spaces in sensitive historic areas to major ground up projects, I have had the opportunity to create spaces that are agile, adaptable, and equitable for all those that use it.
Throughout my architectural career, I have successfully delivered projects for many tech clients. Through my work with Apple, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Google I have extensive experience supporting these organizations in developing and delivering user-oriented spaces for their workforce and customers. A significant portion of this work has been with workplace solutions both as built spaces and design guidance.
With the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, I worked on two headquarter projects in Redwood City. The projects were unique in that both buildings were TIs situated within a new ground-up building happening concurrently with our work. My responsibilities as Project Manager and Project Architect spanned the design and delivery of the TI spaces to the overall responsibilities of overseeing the consultant teams and ensuring alignment and buy-in from the multiple client stakeholders. I worked closely with the Director of Real Estate to establish guidelines and standards for their future spaces and helped the team pivot to a more flexible design strategy as Covid became the new reality. Having worked on two consecutive headquarters for the organization, I was able to take the lessons learned from the first project and, with the facilities team, iterate and improve on a design strategy that was more adaptable to the changing realities of their workforce.
I have also had extensive retail experience, from the flagship Apple store at the World Trade Center to intimate cafes for Blue Bottle in the historic Jackson Square district in San Francisco. This background has given me considerable experience developing and implementing retail standards which need to be adapted to a wide range of sites and built conditions. These projects required a deep understanding of both the technical and experiential component of space-making, as well as the ability to communicate and build consensus with multiple stakeholders. With over a decade of experience taking projects from concept to completion, I can confidently wear multiple hats throughout a building process to steer the project team through difficult situations to deliver beautiful spaces.
My current role as Architecture Lead at the Google R+D Lab has given me the opportunity to work with partners across the real estate group to develop innovative solutions for Google spaces. My team is tasked with exploring innovative solutions for present and future realities while finding a path to scale and implement the solutions across the Google portfolio. Our initiatives range from developing strategies for the future of work to rethinking prefabrication as opportunities to improve efficiency, cost, and quality in strategic areas of the built environment. Because the Architectural and MEP systems are being piloted across many Google spaces, I work closely with a variety of Google stakeholders and external partners throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment and success.
Desire to make a positive change in the world, open minded, collaborative environment, great work culture, good work/life balance, opportunity for growth, interesting and impactful project opportunities, and willingness to embrace innovation.
