I am passionate about helping children become the best version of themselves.
The mechanisms for change may be (alphabet soup below!):
Positive Youth Development [PYD] (through sport/physical activity)
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support [MTSS] (through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports [PBIS])
Applied Behavioral Analysis [ABA] (specifically attuned to kiddos with Autism)
In each iteration, the child is the focus and his/her/their needs/strengths form the lens by which to view progress, assess vulnerability, and direct change. I am privileged to have contributed to projects and organizations that value this work.
In my background, I have:
Created, implemented, and assessed 'PYD through sport' curriculum for youth sport organizations
Led PYD-based coaching sessions for soccer and basketball
Been responsible for building operations from set-up to tear-down
Taught (instructor of record) for senior-level/master's level course in special education
Utilized Kaufman, Wechsler, and Woodcock-Johnson family of assessments to identify student vulnerabilities
Led life skills groups (e.g. Social Skills Time, Girls on the Run) to support PBIS in schools
Developed programming for kiddos with Autism which utilized differential reinforcement, token economies, and structured routines
Supervised 25 direct care staff by evaluation and support to ensure that ABA tenets are implemented consistently
All of these activities have a singular thread woven through them: helping children become the best version of themselves. It is that idea that drives me through the day; it is that idea that is worth the best of my competency, skills, and work ethic.
Remote, social good, child and family focus
