Program Management

Summary

Within Microsofts Devices department, I owned the asset management portfolio and was charged with bringing order in tracking its prototype and lab test equipment asset categories. I quickly identified key stakeholder groups across multiple business units and functional, mapped out their as-is and to-be business processes, personally wrote the Agile backlogs/features/user stories needed, facilitated the architectural conversations that resulted in a solution decision, and led my software engineering team on a 2-year journey that resulted in the creation of the first version asset management platform. This resulted in the onboarding of 60,000 prototype assets, eliminating 5,500 manual work-hours, and a cost reduction of $1.4M.

In my next major effort in my asset management program, I spearheaded the business case and budgeting effort to fund and build our permanent asset management solution. This involved influencing 4 disparate executive leadership groups (3 of which were not my own) to fund the project vision. Like my V1 platform, this project also re-emphasized my abilities to gather requirements and facilitate technical design discussions, but as it was larger and many orders more complex, it also showcased my strengths in project communications and collaboration across an even larger stakeholder set. Finally, this program also demonstrated my ability to handle the change management involved in migrating my previous business groups and their data from one platform to the next. The net result was a fully modern asset management platform which would realize a 50% reduction in support costs over the previous application.

Expectations

I would love a role where I can do the full "spectrum" of program management. As an Agile/Scrum centric PM, I see myself as capable of the "front-end" of PMing (business requirements, solutioning), the "execution-phase" (sprint planning, leading the dev team through sprints), and the "back-end" of projects (internal and customer facing demos and testing, migration, and deployment).
