Management
Summary
Over the last 10 years I have worked as a criminal defense attorney in Texas. As a criminal defense attorney in Texas, I specialize in representing individuals accused of committing complex criminal offenses including misdemeanors and felonies in state and federal court. My primary role is to provide legal counsel and representation to clients throughout the criminal justice process. This includes conducting legal research, analyzing case law, and preparing defense strategies tailored to each client's case. I also advocate for my clients in court proceedings, negotiate with prosecutors to reach plea bargains or settlements when appropriate, and defend clients during trial if necessary. I work diligently to protect my clients' rights, ensure fair treatment under the law, and strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for my clients, whether through dismissal of charges, acquittal, or mitigation of penalties.
Prior to that, I worked in the NCAA compliance office of the Southern Methodist University Athletic Department. While at SMU, I assisted with educational sessions and workshops to ensure coaches, athletes, and athletic department staff members understood NCAA rules, eligibility requirements, recruiting regulations, and other compliance-related matters. I also assisted with procedures to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. This included reviewing recruiting activities, monitoring student-athlete eligibility, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting. Additionally, I managed the paperwork associated with various compliance-related tasks, such as student-athlete eligibility forms, waivers, and transfer requests, ensuring all documentation was accurate and submitted in a timely manner. Finally, I maintained accurate records of compliance-related activities, including eligibility certifications, recruiting activities, and compliance education efforts so that all records were organized and easily accessible for auditing purposes.
Expectations
I am looking for a challenging, collaborative, family-friendly work environment that offers opportunity for career growth and also flexibility in order to accommodate family needs such as childcare, school events, or medical appointments, whether that is through flexible work hours or option for remote work or telecommuting when necessary.
