K-pop business strategist and brand marketer

Summary

I am originally from California. I am an Asian ex-pat that lived abroad for 19 years (Japan for 7 and Korea for 12 years).

I specialize in brand marketing, content creation, and connecting brands as a business strategist.

My industry specialties are in gaming, esports, and K-pop, having around 12 years in the industry. I have also worked in other pop culture mediums, such as anime, manhwa, and movies as well.

Previously, I worked as a journalist and professor in Korea. Before that, I was a software developer for three years.

Currently, I work as a gaming and Korean pop culture consultant for clients. My clients range from startups and content creators to large companies and Fortune 500 brands.

Below is a brief history of my work experience.

I first started out as a software engineer, as Computer Science is my major. I coded and designed websites. I later transitioned to developing apps on Android for clients and doing personal projects.

Later on, I worked as an esports journalist and a media member, covering over 400 events in anime, gaming, esports, and movies as press/media in Korea, Japan, and the US. I collaborated with Riot Games, Team Liquid (a popular Starcraft site), IGN, Tokyo Game Show, Wargaming, G-Star, and Blizzard Entertainment. My main goal in esports was to bridge Eastern and Western gamers together.

As a journalist and marketer, I worked at two major Korean media companies: Yonhap News and Korea Times. I grew email lists from 0 to over 10,000 subscribers, increased website traffic by over 100,000 views per month, and grew social media accounts by several 10,000 followers.

I'm a K-pop YouTube content creator and K-pop business strategist.

I currently run a YouTube channel that focuses on in-depth, video essays on K-pop called Popsori, a channel that has over 13k subscribers, with two viral videos going over 1.7 million and 500k views.

Expectations

I'm looking for a new opportunity where they are creating exciting new products / services and where I can make an impact. Companies that work hard and get things done, but also reward their employees is where I most thrive at. Having great coworkers and a good boss are also high on my list.
