Investment Analyst

Summary

During my time at university, I have found that my key skills lie in statistical analysis and research, evidenced by high grades in econometric modules and research-based coursework. To further develop my skills and build a good platform to launch my career in this industry, I decided in the final year of my undergraduate degree to undertake a Masters to develop and showcase my skills in these areas and to refine and increase my knowledge and experience of financial markets. With the completion of my Master's degree, my next educational goal is to pursue Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder status with the CFA exams.

To complement my course, I have taken part in numerous extra opportunities such as the Amplify Trading events, a Business Consulting Workshop, a 3-day Investment Banking Internship, etc. At my Undergraduate University, I took part in a Portfolio Investment Challenge where my team came first place with the highest Sharpe Ratio and Portfolio Return. To construct our portfolio, we used a top-down approach looking at the current macroeconomic and political climate to then decide on which industries to invest in based on our and analyst predictions. Following this, at my Postgraduate University, I had the opportunity to research statistically in a more general framework the links between Stock Returns, the Macroeconomy and Economic Uncertainty in my dissertation, where my skills in research and statistical analysis were put to the test.

Outside of my education, I am a keen photographer who is primarily self-taught. In pursuit of improving my photography skills, aside from critiquing my own work, I frequently look for the opinions of others to obtain their criticisms and their commendations, so I can become better at this hobby. This passion has led me to pursue committee positions such as Treasurer and Events Manager at the Photography Society of my undergraduate university. As part of my responsibilities for these roles, I was expected to run tutorials on different types of photography. Normally these would involve a presentation on composition, settings and gear followed by a practical where information from the lecture is put into practice where I am on hand to give advice and answer any questions. This year I was asked by the new committee to come back and run my session on Astrophotography, and I also achieved first place in an Astrophotography competition.

In my Undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance, I achieved an Upper Second Class with Honours and I am expecting to graduate with an MSc in Finance with a Merit in Winter 2023, however, I am available for immediate start.
