Summary

I am a 'web app developer' in the broadest sense of the term: whatever it takes to develop an 'app' (or really, a user experience), I can/will/have done it. "Full-stack", in other words.

I've been programming for well over 10 years, with about 5 of those in some professional capacity. These days, I'm most experienced on the Frontend with React and TypeScript (which is where I'm happiest), but I obviously also work in the Backend. It's mostly been Node/Express, with a good helping of Python + the lightweight API framework du-jour (i.e. Flask or FastAPI). Mostly recently, I've been dabbling with Elixir/Phoenix, which has been quite the joy indeed! Infrastructure-wise, I'm a GCP/Kubernetes guy, but I've dabbled with most of the major Cloud providers. Terraform certainly helps level the playing field.

I will say that I've also worked around the data science/machine learning space more than I thought I would have, but it's hardly my specialty/passion. Search engines/information retrieval, on the other hand, is kind of a niche of mine where I'd say I have above-average knowledge.

Oh, also UI design. Almost forgot that one! I'd say I'm one of those 'rarer' Frontend developers that can also do a good bit of design work.

My "claim to fame" is building/founding a rather technically-complicated personal finance app that you've probably never heard of!

Expectations

Right now, I'm just looking for a change of pace - preferably in the "faster" direction. Startups, smaller established companies, the like. I'm ideally looking for Frontend positions that use React, but I'm open to working with other frameworks and doing things more full-stack.
