Experienced Security Engineer
Summary
I am a software engineer turned security professional with over ten years of experience who has worked for several different highly-regulated companies in the financial, biotech, and retail delivery spaces. From SOC2T2 to FedRAMP, I enjoy getting worked up about them all. Control language isn't scary, it's fun to dive into and get pedantic with it.
I primarily situate myself as a cloud-focused security person (typically AWS, but I'm not afraid of GCP or Azure) with a secondary specialty around Docker image security concerns. That said, the teams I've worked on have been small and have required one to become an "expert" on anything quickly.
You'll want to talk to me if you are looking for an individual that takes a holistic approach to security. I understand that, at most organizations, security concerns are a business risk just like any other. Therefore, it is my job to help identify, communicate, and mitigate those risks without beating people over the head with them.
Expectations
I love to work with diverse groups of individuals that don't believe information security has to be a burden to an organization and its people. Security can be observed all while maintaining minimum-friction day-to-day operations.
I never want to feel like I'm the smartest person in the room. If that's the case, the opportunities for learning will be limited. Luckily, I've found that most people have worthwhile experience to share, no matter where they are in their career journey.
I want to continue working with wide ranges of tech with the ability to dive deep into something when the need arises.
