Summary

I build teams and processes, while solving problems (usually with technology).

In each of my roles, I've had the opportunity to grow engineering departments which includes not only hiring, coaching, and team building, but the processes and working agreements needed to let groups of different sizes flourish. At one startup, I grew the engineering department from one technologist (me!) to around sixty engineers working across FE, BE, UX, Data, and DevOps. As we grew, I went from being in the code, to managing engineers and ultimately managing other managers.

I enjoy the Director of Engineering role because it allows me to stay close to the code and technology while also working on high value items like strategy, roadmaps and budgets.

Expectations

I'm looking for a company that has a goal of making life better through technology. To that end, I've volunteered for a local blood bank, worked at a startup looking to prevent accidents for utility workers, and another company looking to improve the interviewing process. I've found these type of mission-driven companies also work to create a healthy work environment for their employees.
