Data scientist

Summary

I am an experienced data scientist with a diverse professional background in designing and developing end-to-end ML and data science solutions. I have worked with companies such as Microsoft and Uber, where I have implemented deep learning forecasting tools for time series analysis, performed MLops to deploy and serve models, and collaborated with other data scientists to design user segmentation and recommendation systems.

One of my major achievements was successfully designing, developing, and deploying a feature that generated automatic insights digests for customers with personalized recommendations and key metric changes, reaching over 300,000 users while working with the Clarity Insights Team at Microsoft Vancouver. I have also handled Big Data queries on HPCs and Spark, using Python and C#, generating reports and visualizations to internal stakeholders while analyzing user retention and behavior.

My academic experience as a Visiting Researcher at Dalhousie University focused on researching automatic summarization of online news discussions using a transformer architecture. This work culminated in a paper accepted to Intellysis 2021.

In addition, I have taught and provided instructional support in courses such as Deep Learning, User Interface Design, Non-Relational Databases, and Data Structures. I hold an M.Sc. equivalent in Computer Science Engineering from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, where I ranked 1st out of 20 graduates, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the same institution.

I am the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2022 School of Engineers Best Graduated Student in Chile, the 2021 Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María Best Computer Science Graduated Student in Chile, the 2019 Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program EduCanada Research Scholarship and the 2019 Seeds for the Future Huawei Scholarhip. I am passionate about data science and always seeking new opportunities to innovate and make a meaningful impact in the field.
