Data Engineer
Summary
I am a data-focused engineer with a background in Python, SQL, and building reliable data pipelines. I recently completed my Masters in Data Science at UC Irvine, where I strengthened my fundamentals in data engineering, modeling, and analytics. Professionally, Ive worked at Mapup as a Data Analyst and at Reading Ways as a Data Engineer, where my focus was on cleaning large, messy datasets, automating ETL processes, and delivering accurate reporting for real users.
At Mapup, I built and maintained automated pipelines using Python, Airflow, AWS, and PostgreSQL, transforming geographic, API, and scraped datasets into reliable, structured forms. I also worked on data validation, monitoring logic, and process improvements that reduced manual effort and increased data accuracy.
At Reading Ways, I handled multi-year education data across districts, cleaned and standardized student-level records, and built reporting that school leaders trusted for decision-making. I designed repeatable Python workflows for data cleaning, implemented detailed validation checks, and collaborated closely with non-technical teams to ensure the outputs were both correct and easy to understand.
Across both roles, I have built a strong foundation in data modeling, pipeline development, data quality, and turning unstructured information into clean, trustworthy datasets. My major achievements include automating large portions of Mapups data ingest process, designing high-quality reporting pipelines at Reading Ways, and consistently being the person who brings structure to messy datasets through careful analysis, validation, and engineering.
My goal going forward is to continue growing as a data engineer and work on systems that require reliability, scale, and deep ownership over the data lifecycle.
Expectations
In my next role, Im looking for a place where I can grow as a data engineer while doing work that actually matters. I want to be part of a team that values clean data, careful engineering, and clear communication, not just speed for the sake of speed. Id like to work somewhere that gives me real ownership over my projects, trusts me to build things end-to-end, and encourages learning when I hit unfamiliar tools or problems.
I am hoping for a role where I can collaborate with smart, supportive teammates, contribute to meaningful business outcomes, and keep sharpening my skills in pipelines, modeling, and data quality. Most importantly, I want an environment where I can do good work, learn fast, and feel like my contributions make a difference.
