Biodefense
Summary
I've always been fascinated by how science can solve real-world problems. That's what drew me to biology in the first place, and it's why I jumped at the chance to work as an associate scientist right out of college.
My current role as a QM Associate Scientist at Becton Dickinson lets me combine my lab skills with a focus on quality control. I use my knowledge of microbiology, genetics, and biochemistry to analyze data and make sure everything follows the strictest protocols. From PCR and gel electrophoresis to cell culture, I'm comfortable in a lab environment.
But science isn't my only passion. I also love interacting with people and providing excellent customer service. Before diving into research, I worked in healthcare as a medical assistant and receptionist. Those experiences honed my communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills all of which come in handy now too!
My education reflects my well-rounded background. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Child and Adolescent Studies, and I currently working on finishing my Master's in Biotechnology with a concentration in Biodefense.
I'm proud of my ability to excel in both research and client-facing roles. I can handle complex tasks, ensure quality control, and go the extra mile to meet expectations.
That's why I'm looking for a new challenge a dynamic research environment where I can put my scientific expertise and interpersonal skills to good use. I'm confident I can make a significant contribution to the right team.
Expectations
With my background in both research and client service, I have some clear expectations for my next role in biodefense research. First and foremost, I want to be heavily involved in the hands-on science. My experience with lab techniques like PCR and cell culture, alongside my knowledge of microbiology and genetics, makes me eager to contribute to experiments and analyze data. Ideally, I'd be part of a team working on a specific project with a tangible goal, like developing a new diagnostic tool or therapeutic approach. But research isn't everything. My experience in healthcare also instilled in me the importance of clear communication. Being able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and explain complex scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences is a must for me. I expect a new role that allows me to utilize both my scientific expertise and interpersonal skills to make a real difference in the field of biodefense.
