The role is fully flexible with a whole range of ways of working. Although the majority of the team in this departmetn work from home, getting face to face is something the client would value. If you prefer an office environment, there is a choice of 4 main hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell that offer a great space to work

The Team :

The Software Development Group works closely with the different product families to create products that meet their vision and the users requirements. You will work in a small team of Software Development Team Leads, where you will be incredibly supported within your peer group and often enjoy team chats over a nice beverage!

Responsibilities:

You will be managing a team of 3 software developers who are building a new website for publishing scientific research in a revolutionary way. As well as managing and mentoring the team you will be expected to undertake some development work and ensure the architecture is suitable for delivering the site. You will also work with other team leaders to ensure consistency in development process and share ideas.

Core competencies:

Managing a team of developers and delivering results
Building full stack applications using JavaScript/Typescript and React
Pick up new technologies and languages when required
Experience of AWS would also be useful
A willingness and passion for learning new technology as required.
The ability to act and work both independently and as an enthusiastic team member.
Ability to develop expertise in new languages and technologies as required.
The ability to teach and mentor other developers and lead them to achieving the teams goal.
Experience in at least one of: Java, JavaScript, Python, C#. would be a bonus
Experience taking a lead role in the development of a software application.
Experience with one or more of the following would be a bonus Terraform, Node.js, AWS, Azure, Docker, RESTful API design, WCAG accessibility guidelines, mobile development.#

Salary and Benefits :

Basic salary of £45,000 to £85,000 per annum depending on experience
