Senior Devops Engineer

Job Description

This job is intended for a Sr. DevOps Engineer with design, development and implementation of automated deployment skills that is built and delivered at scale in modern, agile enterprises. This role is critical to the success of the organization and the client management function.

This employee will be responsible for developing solutions that leverage, integrate, and provide continuity across the IT disciplines of Development, Quality, Automation, and Operations Management. You will gather and analyze requirements and be responsible for implementing solutions to drive delivery, automation, and infrastructure-as-code efforts for our product offerings. You will have in-depth knowledge of building and automating the deployment of infrastructure in a cloud architecture using infrastructure-as-code tools. Best practices around securing the infrastructure and code will be leveraged.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES OF THE JOB
The successful candidate will be responsible for a cross section of the following duties:

Identify the strategy / approach / tools providing a complete solution, including the project plan tasks, estimates, and dependencies
Assist in the development of a DevOps Roadmap which drives improvement within the organization
Diagram proposed solution including network topology, build and release pipelines, data flow charts, and the process from development to production release
Build strategies for the deployment, load balancing, distributed computing, disaster recovery, compliance security / procedures, and automation
Design and implement proactive monitoring of production system performance, uptime, and daily operations, including the configuration and use of automated, cloud-based monitoring and alerting offerings as well as the ability to architect systems for resiliency and self-healing
Responsible for building a DevOps culture as you work alongside and collaborate with scrum masters, developers, stakeholders, and governance bodies in the company
Regularly interact with senior technology and business management, requiring the ability to explain complex technical matters in a way both technical and non-technical personnel can understand
Collaborate with internal development teams to plan and support upcoming releases, and implement operational enhancements to improve reliability and scalability
Identify and implement opportunities for automating existing processes to streamline operations and support functions
Must have an automate everything possible mindset, as opposed to point and click to configure
Work Relationships: Partners with Technology and Business Leaders to ensure that systems are developed to comply with architectural and testing standards and established methodologies.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/LICENSES & CERTIFICATION

Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or 5+ years of equivalent combination of equivalent education and experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a variety of complex technical topics in the following areas which may include:

Minimum of 3+ years work experience in DevOps related to continuous integration/delivery solutions and platform automations, preferably in AWS or
Azure or similar cloud environment.
Proficient with Terraform, preferably Terraform Cloud
Solid understanding of building secure infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure
In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, including how to build and maintain Kubernetes clusters in EKS and AKS clusters
Experience with building deployment pipelines (containerized and not containerized) using tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, Git, Azure DevOps, etc.
Experience with modern source code management, preferably Git
Experience with DevOps processes such as Agile, Scrum and Kanban
Understanding of the technologies used in building contemporary, secure networking solutions, such as TCP/IP, routing, subnets, firewalls, VPN and DMZ
Knowledge in building logging, monitoring and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, EFK/ELK stack and PagerDuty
Skills writing scripts for Linux systems using languages such as Bash or Python
Software development lifecycle
Agile software development methodologies, values, procedures and tools such as the Atlassian suite including JIRA and Confluence
