Job description

KLOA is exploring the field of mobile e-commerce. We believe our input technique is well suited to improve the search-as-you-type experience for shopping on mobile.

We seek a talented designer to join our team as Interaction Designer and Researcher. In the role, you will design and prototype new mobile interactions.

The emphasis is purely on search-as-you-type interaction for mobile e commerce. The scope of UI elements included in the design task are: product search bar, list of suggested word predictions, list of recommended products, search facets panel, and letter selection interface.

In addition, you will support UX research which will include writing surveys, conducting participant interviews, and executing diary studies in order to collect insights into the needs and preferences of e-commerce shoppers.

Finally, you will segment the field of e-commerce shoppers according to how shoppers browse products. We seek to develop personas for each segment to better understand who our target customer should be.

Required qualifications

B.S., M.S., or PhD (in progress or completed) in human-centered design and engineering, human-computer interaction, human factors, or information science.

1 to 5 years experience in UX design and research for digital, including at least 1 year of mobile. (One year of academic work/projects, previous internship experience and self initiated projects all count toward this.)

Online portfolio that includes at least 2 projects. At least 1 project of substantial length to include formulating research questions, survey writing, conducting interviews, include design choices and explicit evidence that supports those design choices, and final designs.

Solid understanding of UX research techniques, particularly qualitative research and usability studies.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Notes

The role is part-time and can occur alongside full-time school or work. The work schedule is completely flexible and decided by you.
