Infrastructure Support Engineer
Location: Sittingbourne, Kent (office/field based, covering National)
Salary: Up to £40,000, Plus Overtime, & Benefits Package, depending on skill set and experience
This is primarily an office based role with some work from home opportunity
Reporting to The Service Operations Manager and working within the Service Desk, you will work closely with other Engineers in the Service Delivery Team.
You will be working within Service Delivery, primarily dealing with escalations and problems alongside ad hoc project activity. You will be working for a market-leading IT solutions provider specialising in platform hosting, network infrastructure, data centre and business continuity services for small, medium and large enterprises, public sector organisations, as well as other diverse market sectors.
Established for over 25 years and with a £6M turnover and strong balance sheet, the companys facilities include two data centres, a disaster recovery suite, a network operations centre, all located in a highly secure twenty-five acre campus in Kent. They have a record of sustained growth and is currently experiencing further rapid expansion. They are predominantly focused on Microsoft technologies, as well as industry leading providers of Routers, Switches, Firewalls and Wireless Technologies, Printers, Desktops and Servers and Telephony and Connectivity services.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical and interpersonal skills with some project management capabilities, preferably with extensive previous experience in a service provider or corporate environment.
The Infrastructure Support Engineer role will incorporate on-site working at customer premises as required; a full driving license, your own transportation, and a willingness to travel are therefore pre-requisites.
Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience of the following is also essential:
Wintel including Desktop and Server operating systems
Active Directory, DFS, Security, GPO, DNS, DHCP
Virtualisation - Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware
Exchange Server and associated e-mail protocols
Remote Desktop Services or VDI
Public Cloud Microsoft 365, Azure/AWS
Networking - TCP/IP, Switching & Routing, Firewalls, NAT
Storage including SAN, NAS, SCSI, iSCSI and/or Fibre Channel
Web Development skills
Although not essential, industry recognised credentials and qualifications are desirable. Other essential requirements include:
A smart, professional appearance
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
A strong desire to overachieve and excel within the company
The ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative
