JOB SUMMARY:

The positions primary focus is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the organizations IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. This role is also responsible for telephony systems, data center, security systems, and other electronic infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Administrator is someone who works independently with minimal supervision and updates the supervisor on the status of projects and technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties include:

Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organizations network.
Assess and administer all equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Manage and ensure the effectiveness of servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software. Responsible for on-site and off-site data centers.
Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining the network infrastructure.
Oversee the administration of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in AD.
Maintain and manage policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration and appropriate use.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management, and related documentation.
Establish service-level agreements with end users.
Provides ownership of problems thru final resolution.

Troubleshooting:
Assist in resolving basic to complex issues with infrastructure and applications, working with application development teams and vendors.
Monitor issue research through to resolution escalating to supervisor when applicable.

Team Interfaces:
Establish and maintain a professional relationship with team members and department contacts
Develop an excellent working relationship with internal contacts
Cooperate with team members to meet goals or complete tasks
Respond to requests for infrastructure reports or other information
Escalate work flow and communication issues to supervisor

KNOWLEDGE AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Associates degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent curriculum
5-7 years of relevant work experience in enterprise infrastructure management
Working knowledge of SQL Server and DBMS platforms
Working knowledge of Windows Server (incl. DNS, DHCP, NTFS File Permissions, & Windows File Sharing)
Working knowledge of enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including Active Directory, Group Policies, Microsoft Office 365, Core Switching/Routing, SSL/IPSec, SAN, Virtualization, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery.
Conversant with programming languages such as .Net, PHP.
Experience in interpreting the applicability of local and federal laws/regulations (including data privacy practices and laws) to company operations.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and so on.
Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
Experience installing network cabling and telephony systems.
Fast learner, ability to multi-task, and strong work ethic
Must work well both as a team player & independently
