Principal Responsibilities
Lead a team of flight software engineers in the design and development of flight software applications.
Participate in program meetings and create work breakdowns for engineers.
Act as a lead program software engineer when needed.
Represent engineers in bi-weekly sprint planning sessions.
Participate in code reviews.
Oversee direct reports from a human resources standpoint, conducting team meetings, performance reviews, and interviews as needed to meet work demands and team expectations.
Regularly provide presentations, reports, summaries, and status updates to senior management.
Perform other duties as assigned when necessary.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace, or a similar field.
At least 5 years of relevant industry experience in embedded software in the aerospace or space sector, or a comparable field.
At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams working on embedded software in similar sectors.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of leading technical teams.
Previous experience mentoring junior engineers.
Experience with developing software in C/C++, deploying and testing in the target environment, and product delivery.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Master's or PhD in computer science or engineering with a specialization in embedded systems.
Experience with Linux development.
Knowledge of Zynq 7000 series and/or microprocessors.
Familiarity with FPGA.
Experience with hardware testing equipment
