Development Engineer for High-Speed Digital Hardware

Summary:

VIAVI Solutions are looking for a Development Engineer for High-Speed Digital Hardware to strengthen our team at our German location in Eningen.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Development of fast communication modules with bit rates up to 3.2 Tbit/s or 1 Tbit/s.

- Collaboration in the development of device and module concepts.

- Creation of block diagrams.

- Conception and implementation of heat dissipation concepts.

- Circuit diagram creation and selection of components.

- 3D EM simulation of critical signal paths.

- Selection of PCB material and determination of layer structure.

- Supporting the layout department in the layout of critical signal paths.

- Ensuring signal integrity.

- Firmware programming in C++.

- Commissioning of the assemblies and performance of functional tests.

- You will work in a small team of experienced hardware engineers.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

- Completed a Master's degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, communications technology or a comparable field of study.

- Experience in the development of high-speed digital hardware (100 Gb).

- Very good theoretical and practical high frequency knowledge.

- Experience in the use of FPGAs with fast transceivers.

- Knowledge of circuit diagram and PCB development with common CAE tools.

- Experience with fast Ethernet hardware is advantageous.

- Experience with PCIe protocols & fast PCIe HW Gen5/Gen6 including PAM4 is advantageous.

- Flexibility, enthusiasm and not afraid of technical challenges.

- Analytical, systematic and independent way of working.

- Fluent verbal and written in German and English.
