Chief Technology Officer AI & Robotics Platform

The client is building a next generation retail robotics platform for a major Malaysian retail group. Their solution includes autonomous in store robots designed for SKU/product recognition, shelf navigation, teleoperations, and a scalable Retail AI Brain that powers intelligent retail automation at scale Confidential Leadership Mandate

This role is responsible for building and leading the development of an advanced AI-driven robotics platform designed for real-world commercial deployment. Prefer candidates with Chinese language capability.

The objective is to create a scalable intelligent robotics system that can:
Operate autonomously in physical environments
Understand products, layouts, and real-world context
Be monitored and controlled remotely
Continuously improve through data and machine learning

Key Responsibilities
1. Robotics Platform Development
Define and design how robotic systems operate in real-world environments
Build scalable architectures for multi-site deployment
Reduce reliance on external vendors by developing in-house capabilities
2. Remote Operations (Tele-operations)
Develop systems for remote monitoring and control of robotic assets
Ensure stable, low-latency connectivity leveraging modern networks (4G/5G/cloud)
Progressively improve system autonomy and reduce manual intervention
3. AI & Data Systems
Build data pipelines to capture and utilize operational data from robotic systems
Develop AI/ML models for perception, recognition, and decision-making
Create dashboards and analytics frameworks to track performance and optimize operations
4. Intelligent Platform (AI Brain)
Architect a unified intelligence layer enabling robots to perceive, decide, and act
Design the platform with a view toward productization and scalability
Support development of recurring revenue models (subscription / licensing)
5. Technology Leadership
Build and lead multidisciplinary teams across AI, robotics, and data engineering
Define technology roadmap and execution strategy
Engage with senior stakeholders, partners, and investors as the technology leader

Ideal Profile
10+ years of experience in AI, robotics, or intelligent systems
Proven track record in deploying real-world robotic or autonomous systems
Strong expertise across AI/ML, computer vision, robotics systems, and platform architecture
Demonstrated leadership in building and scaling engineering teams
Ability to bridge deep technology with commercial application
