Have salaries declined over the past year? I'm wondering if I need to lower my expectations.

YMMV, but from what I see among my connections, salaries remained more or less the same. However, companies are now reducing bonuses, don't increase merit, and also reduced their promo budgets. And those who are still hiring don't offer big stock award packages or sign-in bonuses to new employees as they used to do before.

Yup, and also it's much more difficult to negotiate in this market. But at the same time, AI / ML devs are on the rise, so things may be slightly better there :)
