Sr. Electrical Engineer

Job Description

The new Sr. Electrical Engineer position in our Morrisville, NC manufacturing facility will play a key role between our R&D and manufacturing teams, helping to ensure new board designs are manufacturable for robust integration into medical and research devices, while also supporting regulatory testing for emissions, immunity and safety. The successful candidate will help design and test PCBs while interacting with mechanical engineers on mounting, cable drawings and thermal management. They will lead fault analyses and recommend improvements in product design and assembly/test process to increase robustness and manufacturing efficiency.

Ideal candidates will be excited at the prospect of working in a fast-paced development environment while juggling multiple ongoing projects and learning more about the physics, optics and chemistry underlying both spectroscopy and optical coherence tomography.
Location: This position is based in Morrisville, North Carolina (Raleigh-Durhams Research Triangle Park). Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Design low-complexity mixed-signal circuitry
Integrate product improvements into new designs
Support bring-up and testing of PCBs
Design test fixtures for functional verification of circuit boards
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) into electrical failures on the factory floor or in the field
Work with R&D engineers on new product Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Work with manufacturing to recommend process improvements in assembly and test
Responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation in accordance with the Quality Management System of the company
Required Experience
Mixed-signal design experience
PCB design with schematic capture and board layout (multi-layer SMT, Altium preferred)
PCB drawing creation (layer stackups, dimensioning, BOM scrubs)
Circuit/System bring up experience and troubleshooting
Design Verification Test (DVT) experience on circuits/systems
Full-lifecycle experience in taking a design from concept to manufacturing
Soldering and re-work
Familiarity with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers etc
Experience following engineering processes & procedures
Preferred Experience
Experience with EMC and electrical safety regulatory standards (IEC 61010, EN 61326 etc)
Revision control with Git (BitBucket, AllSpice etc)
Experience writing engineering processes and procedures
Education / Skills
BS/MS or higher in Electrical Engineering or relevant fields
Strong communication skills and positive attitude to work with engineering, manufacturing, and business teams towards success of products
Strong organizational skills and capability of generating necessary written documentation
